If one notices increasingly fuzzy faces on some law enforcement officers in Grayson County this month don’t fret, deputies and officers did not misplace their razors.

November has been proclaimed “No Shave November” by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Leitchfield Police Department as the agencies raise money for a local nine-year-old child with cancer.

Sheriff Norman Chaffins, in a social media post, said deputies and Leitchfield officers will donate $5 per day to the family of Logan Sommer for every day in November that deputies/officers go without shaving.

“Each day that they go without shaving they will donate $5 for a total of $150 if they go the entire month,” Chaffins said. “100% of the proceeds will go to the family of Logan Sommer … Logan is one of three of the triplets that finished his last chemo treatment a year or so ago. Sadly, his cancer has returned and it is in 48% of his bone marrow. He and his mom have some long days ahead of them as he battles this awful disease.”

Chaffins also encouraged people to offer donations to any of his deputies, or LPD officers.

“If you see my deputies out and about please consider donating so that we may ease some of the burden on his mom and family that have traveled here to take care of the other two kiddos,” Chaffins stated. “Let’s take care of this Grayson County family!”

Those who wish to donate may also present a contribution at the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office at 10 Public Square in Leitchfield, or Leitchfield PD headquarters at 515 South Main Street.
