Two people, including a female that has been jailed over two dozen times in the last nine years, have been arrested in Barren County after being found with methamphetamine in a motel room with an infant.

The Cave Cite Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at Holiday Motel at 306 North Dixie Avenue on Wednesday, according to a report by WNKY.com.

Upon arrival, police made contact with 33-year-old Julie A. Ellis and 47-year-old Benjamin S. Cullen, of Barren County. An infant was also in the room.

During a search of the room, police located a methamphetamine pipe and other drug paraphernalia. After being taken into custody, Ellis attempted to swallow a paper towel containing methamphetamine, police told the Bowling Green television station.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ellis was additionally charged with promoting contraband (for the fourth time).

The suspects were lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on $2,500 bonds. Cullen was released on Thursday.

Ellis, according to online records, has been arrested at least 25 times since 2013 on a variety of charges, including possession of a controlled substance (opiates), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) four times, hindering prosecution, public intoxication (controlled substance), promoting contraband three times, third-degree arson, and trafficking in a controlled substance (LSD).

She was convicted in 2021 for possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified) in Monroe County, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. She is on parole until February 2023.

Ellis has been arrested in Barren, Crittenden, Christian, Allen, Monroe, and Adair counties.

Cullen has been jailed five times in Barren County since 2018 for public intoxication (controlled substance), second-degree criminal trespassing, first-degree criminal trespassing twice, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), and DUI.
