Bardstown, Jeffersontown police seize ton of pot, arrest 5

Bardstown police and the Jeffersontown Police Department seized a ton of marijuana and arrested five men following a traffic stop.

According to WAVE3.com, the Jeffersontown Police Department executed a traffic stop soon after five men left a residence in the 1600 block of Ellwood Avenue in the Highland’s neighborhood. Police, according to the Louisville television station, discovered a large amount of cash.

Soon after, Jeffersontown police and the Bardstown Police Department executed two related search warrants in the 1100 block of Bardstown Road and the Ellwood Avenue location.

During a search of those properties, authorities found 2,000 pounds of marijuana, multiple handguns and long guns, and a large amount of cash.

Police arrested 44-year-old Danny Medina, of Louisville, 44-year-old Miguel A. Suarez, Sr., of Los Angeles, California, 24-year-old Miguel Suarez, Jr., 23-year-old Brian Chacon, and 24-year-old Eduardo Rojas-Garcia.

They were charged with engaging in organized crime and trafficking in marijuana over five pounds and lodged in Louisville Metro Corrections.

The Bardstown Police Department is leading the investigation.
