A Kentucky State Police trooper has seized a “large amount of methamphetamine” during a traffic stop on Lilac Road in Leitchfield.
Saturday morning at approximately 1:30, Sgt. Blake Owens conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Lilac Road on a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, being driven by 45-year-old Tommie Humphrey, of Vine Grove in Breckinridge County, after observing the vehicle “cross the center line … multiple times in less than a half a mile,” according to the arrest citation. The vehicle, Owens wrote in the citation, was also traveling “at a very low rate of speed.”
Upon making contact with Humphrey, Owens detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Humphrey, according to the citation, also displayed “extremely dilated pupils.”
Humphrey was given a field sobriety test and arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, police located a “large quantity of methamphetamine split up into different bags,” according to the citation. A “large quantity of marijuana” was also found, along with digital scales, baggies and a meth pipe.
A passenger informed Owens that Humphrey had recently consumed methamphetamine.
Humphrey was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) — his second such offense — trafficking in marijuana — his second such offense — DUI, reckless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Leitchfield Police Officer Tamara Jupin and Grayson County Deputy Justin Cockerell assisted Owens at the scene.
