Two workers in Kentucky died on the job less than 24 hours apart last week.
On Wednesday afternoon, 58-year-old dock worker David Poe, of Independence, was struck by a semi truck at GXO Logistics in Elsmere in Kenton County. The truck was backing up to a loading dock when Poe was fatally struck.
GXO issued the following statement on the accident:
“We’re saddened to confirm that a tragic accident at our facility in Florence, Kentucky resulted in the death of one of our associates. We have launched an investigation and are fully cooperating with OSHA and local law enforcement in their investigations. Our deepest sympathies are with the family and our Florence team.”
The Kenton County Police Department’s Serious Accident Reconstruction Unit investigated the incident.
K105 previously reported that a construction worker was killed at Central Hardin High School on Thursday morning after being pinned under equipment as he dug a geothermal well for the school’s heating system.
The victim, now identified by The News-Enterprise as 46-year-old Brian S. Clemons, of Hazard, was transported to Baptist Health Hardin where he was pronounced deceased.
The Elizabethtown Police Department is investigating the accident.
