Police are investigating after a fatal house fire in Harlan County.
Kentucky State Police and other first responders arrived at the fire early Wednesday morning on Hwy 552 in the Putney community of Harlan County.
State police said firefighters battled intense heat in extinguishing the fire, and it took several hours for the scene to cool enough for investigators to enter the structure. Once it was safe, cadaver dogs located human remains in the burned home.
The remains were scheduled to be transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
Foul play is not suspected, according to officials.
