A Grayson County man was tased and arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop by the Clarkson Police Department.

Wednesday night at approximately 11:15, Clarkson Police Officer Jordan Jones observed a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee “pass through the intersection of Millerstown Street and West Main Street with a flashing/strobing red and blue LED bar in the back glass,” according to the arrest citation. The lights, Jones wrote in the citation, would change colors to the beat of music.

Jones executed a traffic stop on East Main Street and made contact with the driver, 43-year-old Charles N. Back, of Clarkson, who had a lighter in his lap and was acting “very nervous.”

Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress and his K-9 Zeus quickly arrived, with Jones informing Back that a K-9 unit was at the scene. Back then, according to the citation, told police the drug dog would “more than likely” alert on the vehicle.

As Zeus was led around the Grand Cherokee, he alerted. Back was then asked to step out of the Jeep but he refused “multiple times” and would not unlock the vehicle.

He was then removed from the vehicle but “kept resisting and wouldn’t comply” with commands given to him by police, resulting in Jones tasing the suspect, the citation states.

Once police handcuffed Back and during a search of the vehicle, police found a mirror and razor blade containing methamphetamine. Additionally, lying near where Back was standing, police found a glass pipe containing methamphetamine.

Back was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper use of red lights. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Grayson County Deputy Justin Cockerell assisted at the scene.
