Grayson County has received funding from the Kentucky General Assembly to perform much-needed sidewalk reconstruction in Leitchfield and roadway resurfacing work.
Legislators, during the 2022 General Assembly session, appropriated funds to reconstruct sidewalks in Leitchfield, as well as resurface Wilson Church Road, which spans between Bowling Green Road (Hwy 185) and Caney Creek Road.
State Sen. Steve Meredith, R-Leitchfield, who was instrumental in obtaining the funding, said safe sidewalks and roadways are vital to the health, security and productivity of a community, while praising Grayson County leadership for applying for “attainable” grants.
“I want to commend local officials for their attention to their community’s needs and for being aware of and recognizing available grants that are attainable,” Meredith said. “I’m thankful for this Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) award and the improvements it will bring to my hometown through the reconstruction and repair of our sidewalks.”
Meredith also noted the importance of discretionary funding to completing key local projects
“It is also rewarding as a lawmaker who, along with my colleagues in the Kentucky General Assembly, prioritized the allocation of funding to improve our communities and make sure the taxpayer dollars go toward bettering the lives of residents of Kentucky. Resurfacing Wilson Church Road is a worthy example of why discretionary funds matter,” Meredith said.
