A Leitchfield man has died and another man was seriously injured in an accident while moving a building on Caney Creek Road.

Wednesday afternoon at approximately 5:10, Grayson County Deputies Nick Pruitt and Justin Cockerel, along with Sgt. Clay Boone, the Caneyville and Leitchfield Fire Departments and EMS responded to the accident in the 1900 block of Caney Creek Road, about 125 yards west of the Layman Road intersection.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a tractor had been pulling a gooseneck trailer loaded with a large, wood-frame building. As the operator of the tractor, 63-year-old Marvin Dixon, began traveling down a hill, the tractor picked up too much speed, according to a witness.

The tractor flipped backward as it reached the bottom the hill and briefly began climbing another hill, with the building sliding off the trailer.

Dixon was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grayson County Deputy Coroner Larry Holeman.

There were three men helping Dixon move the building, a witness said: A 21-year-old Grayson County man who suffered serious injuries and was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS. The plan was to transfer the patient to a Louisville hospital but it’s unclear if that occurred. Another man suffered a minor arm injury and a third man was unhurt in the accident.
