A Hardin County man is facing a half dozen child porn charges following a Kentucky State Police investigation.

The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested David M. Smith, 38, of Elizabethtown, on Thursday and charged him with six counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance, state police said in a press release.

The investigation began after police discovered Smith was sharing images of child exploitation online.

The investigation resulted in a search warrant being served at Smith’s residence. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.

Smith was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
