David Richard McCollum, “Double Deuce” age 91, of Falls of Rough, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, (August 22, 2022) at his home in Falls of Rough. He was born on March 7, 1931 in Stanford, KY, the son of the late Bleve and Cora
Zarn McCollum.
He retired as a truck driver working for Smith Transfer. He loved riding his golf cart checking out the neighborhood. When he retired he became a professional piddler and claimed a PHD in Relaxation. He was a supervisor when it came to
getting any repairs done – “Don’t ask me. I am retired.” According to his children he was the “fun” parent, their play toy; while their mom was the disciplinarian. He was liked by everyone who crossed paths with him and did not have any enemies.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his children, Janet Rambo (Mike), Kathleen McCollum, David R. McCollum, Jr (Ashley), Paul McCollum, Donna Flynn (Brian) and Scott McCollum; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; his beloved dog, Benton; and Clifford Norris and Sue Norris, whom he called his honorary children.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his thirteen siblings.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (August 27, 2022) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
