A suspicious vehicle has led to the capture of a man wanted on a drug charge.
Thursday night at approximately 11:00, Leitchfield Police Officer DJ Newton was on regular patrol when he observed a Dodge Ram truck containing one occupant stationary in a parking lot in the 300 block of West White Oak Street.
Upon making contact with the driver, 29-year-old Trenton S. Hunt, of Morgantown (but who has ties to Grayson County), Newton discovered he had a felony warrant for his arrest. Further investigation showed the warrant was for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and carried with it a $10,000 cash bond.
Police, including Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress and K-9 Officer Zeus, searched the vehicle but did not locate narcotics.
Hunt was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
In addition to Fentress and Zeus, assisting at the scene were LPD Officer Tamara Jupin along with Deputies Caleb Owens and Justin Cockerell.
The suspect was also arrested in early April 2022 for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in Grayson County and was granted pretrial diversion, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. His supervision was scheduled to end in May 2025.
