A man who allegedly shot a police officer in Tennessee has been killed in Louisville.
The Nashville (TN) Metro Police Department issued an arrest warrant Monday night for 34-year-old Samuel Q. Edwards, charging him with the attempted murder of Hendersonville Police Officer Cameron Ferrell.
The shooting occurred when Edwards fled police while firing at Ferrell. The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Edwards fled the scene in a van but abandoned the vehicle soon after shooting Ferrell. He left on foot with two long rifles (see photo), according to Nashville police. He later stole a pickup truck in Madison, Tennessee. That vehicle was found abandoned in Millersville, Tennessee, according to Nashville police.
Then, Tuesday night at approximately 8:00, Kentucky State Police made contact with Edwards on Dixie Highway in the Valley Station area of Louisville. Edwards fled troopers before crashing near the intersection of Dixie Hwy and Ashby Lane.
A shootout ensued, with Edwards suffering at least one fatal gunshot wound.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation.
