The Leitchfield Fire Department responded to a truck fire Monday on the Western Kentucky Parkway.
Firefighters were dispatched Monday night at approximately 7:35 to the near the 101-mile marker of the westbound parkway after a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado truck burst into flames.
Upon LFD personnel arriving on scene, the truck was fully engulfed in flames. It took firefighters 15 to 20 minutes to extinguish the intensely hot fire and another 10 minutes to cool the truck.
The interior of the vehicle was completely destroyed by the fast moving flames.
The driver told Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall that it sounded like the “timing chain blew up” immediately prior to the vehicle bursting into flames.
The westbound parkway was briefly shut down as firefighters worked to put out the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
