Over $1.4 million in road work is expected to be completed in 2022 in Grayson County, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC).
At Tuesday’s Grayson Count Fiscal meeting, KYTC construction and maintenance supervisor Bow Warren said the following road improvement projects, totaling $1,420,203, are slated to be completed this year:
- Routine maintenance and traffic — $640,200
- Asphalt resurfacing on Caney Creek Road from Bowling Green Road to Shrewsbury Road (6.323 miles) – $626,128
- Culvert replacement on Cave Creek Road at the 12.6 mile point — $150,000
- County judge-executive expense (via Kentucky Revised Statute) – $3,875
Current road project delayed
Warren further noted that the road construction project from the William Thomason Byway to what is commonly referred to as Bee Hive Curve is experiencing a delay due to the contractor, Charles DeWeese Construction, having “financial difficulties.”
Warren said he wasn’t sure when the project would be completed because the “contractor is potentially bankrupt and looking to be bought out.”
K105 will offer an update on the status of the project when it becomes available.
Key 2023 bridge project
Warren said that next summer, the Millerstown Road bridge that spans the Western Kentucky Parkway at exit 112 will be replaced. The bridge will be relegated to one lane during the replacement, which is expected to, among other benefits, improve sight lines on the bridge approaches.
