Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown has freshly minted troopers on its roster of law enforcers.
KSP’s largest cadet class since 2014, comprised of 71 new troopers, includes two newly graduated troopers assigned to Post 4.
“Troopers Travis Dalton and James Payne are joining Post 4 upon graduation from class 101,” KSP Post 4 Captain Daniel White said. “We are excited to have these two new troopers to add to our ranks to help serve the citizens of our community. Both troopers come highly trained and full of ambition. I congratulate them both on their successful completion of the KSP Academy and look forward to watching them make a positive impact.”
Dalton, of Brandenburg, and Payne, of Glasgow, reported to the KSP training academy in Frankfort on October 3, 2021, and after 24 weeks of “intense training to learn the job skills necessary to perform the duties of a state trooper,” they join the ranks patrolling the eight county Post 4 coverage area.
Twenty-five cadets earned their Associate’s Degrees in General Occupational and Technical Studies from the Bluegrass Community and Technical College during their 24-weeks at the training academy, including Payne.
These cadets benefited from new hiring guidelines established by state legislature in 2017, state police said. Through this revision, anyone who possesses a high school diploma or GED, and has three years of full-time work experience can apply for employment as a KSP Trooper and earn an associate’s degree during the training process.
