A man has been arrested (and quickly released) after leading Kentucky State Police on a pursuit through three counties.

Late Monday night, a trooper observed a 2006 Ford Fusion, being driven by 26-year-old Jerry King IV, of Louisville, without headlights or tail lights on while traveling on Hwy 31-W in Hardin County, according to a report by The News Enterprise.

When the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, King fled into Meade County before the chase entered Jefferson County, with speeds reaching 118 miles per hour.

Police, in the 7400 block of Dixie Highway in Louisville, were able to bring the pursuit to an end, the newspaper reports. King, though, refused to exit his vehicle and had to be pulled out of the car by police.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), driving 26 mph or more over the limit, reckless driving, and numerous other moving violations.

King was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. He was released about three hours after being lodged in the jail on a $2,500 cash bond, according to the detention center website.
