A passenger car and Amish buggy collided at an intersection in Wax.
Monday afternoon at approximately 5:20, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Clay Boone, the Wax Fire Department and EMS responded to the accident at the intersection of Grayson Springs Road and Wax Road.
According to police, a Honda Civic, being driven by 49-year-old Donnie Gipson, of Wax, was traveling west on Grayson Springs Road when the vehicle rolled through a stop sign, striking a northbound buggy being operated by Samuel Hostetler, of Grayson County.
The horse-drawn buggy was outfitted with lanterns on each side and a reflective strip on the back, but Gipson said he did not see the buggy.
The impact tossed the buggy into a ditch, freeing the horse, which began running north on Wax Road. At some point, the horse sheared a mirror off a passing truck. The horse, though, appeared to not suffer any injuries.
Hostetler was also not injured in the accident, as he briefly left the scene to retrieve his horse. Gipson was also unhurt.
