A man has been arrested in Warren County after a pursuit where the suspect is accused of trying to kill Kentucky State Troopers.

Tuesday morning at approximately 9:00, the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office requested help from troopers after responding to a reckless driver complaint. Deputies located the vehicle, being driven by 44-year-old Paul E. Eden, of Hartsville, Tennessee, but the suspect fled.

Authorities said troopers took over the pursuit when it entered Warren County, as Eden continued into Bowling Green where he “attempted to strike vehicles at a high rate of speed.”

The pursuit ended in Bowling Green when Eden collided with two vehicles. Although injured, Eden is accused of assaulting at least one officer while he was being taken into custody.

Eden was treated at a local hospital for his injuries and later released into custody.

He was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, several counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault of a police officer, theft by unlawful taking (automobile), DUI, possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), resisting arrest, third-degree criminal mischief, and reckless driving along with several moving violations.

Hartsville is 53 miles southeast of Bowling Green.
