Kentucky State Police and authorities in Hardin County continue to search for two potentially dangerous suspects after multiple high-end vehicles were stolen in St. Matthews, in eastern Jefferson County.

Kentucky State Police Post 4 Public Affairs Officer Scotty Sharp said that on Saturday night just after 6:00, troopers were requested by St. Matthews police to assist locating several stolen vehicles that were last known to be traveling south on Interstate-65.

The vehicles were involved in a stolen vehicle ring investigation by St. Matthews police, Sharp said.

Troopers located the first vehicle, a white Chevrolet Corvette, on I-65 near the Bullitt County line. A traffic stop was initiated without incident, according to Sharp.

Troopers then observed another of the stolen vehicles, a burgundy Chevrolet Corvette, traveling south at about 123 miles per hour near the 113-mile marker of I-65. Troopers pursued the vehicle but soon lost sight of the car just before the Corvette exited at the 94 mile-marker in Elizabethtown.

That vehicle was later located abandoned at the FiveStar Food Mart on North Mulberry Street.

Troopers then spotted two other stolen vehicles on North Mulberry, near the Speedway, which is only a few hundred yards from FiveStar Food Mart. Sharp said that as troopers activated their emergency lights, one of the vehicles, a BMW, stopped and the driver fled on foot.

The other vehicle, a Jeep Trailhawk, fled at a high rate of speed before turning right onto Ring Road. Troopers also lost sight of the Jeep, with Elizabethtown police later locating the Jeep submerged in Freeman Lake near the intersection of Ring Road.

Sharp said that according to witness reports, the driver exited the Jeep and fled on foot prior to the vehicle entering the water.

KSP recovered four of the vehicles, as troopers and Hardin County law enforcement continue to look for two black males — The driver of the BMW was identified as a black male last seeKSP, Hardin Co. police look for suspects accused of stealing high-end vehicles in Louisville.
