Two Grayson County men have been seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Hardin County.
The accident occurred Tuesday just before noon in the 11000 block of Hwy 62 near Stephensburg, The News-Enterprise reports. The eastbound vehicle, being driven by 56-year-old James Schultz, of Leitchfield, left the roadway with Schultz overcorrecting and crossing both lanes of traffic before traveling off the road and hitting a tree.
Schultz and is passenger, 43-year-old Jeremy Coon, of Grayson County (and who has ties to Horse Branch), were airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition, the newspaper reports.
The accident is under investigation by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office reconstruction team.
This wreck marks the fourth major accident in Hardin County involving Grayson County residents since late May:
On June 16, 35-year-old Josh Clemons and his wife, 27-year-old Trevanna “Charlotte” Russell, both of Grayson County, were killed in nearly the same location as the above accident (the 11000 block of Hwy 62) after their Ford Mustang crossed the center line and struck a truck head-on.
Those two deaths came after a recent Grayson County High School graduate and Leitchfield resident were killed in car accidents in Hardin County a few days apart in late May.
Dominic Hughes, 20, a 2019 GCHS graduate, was killed in a car accident the night of May 23. Only a few days later, Jacob “Jake” Wisdom, 26, of Leitchfield, perished during the early morning hours of May 27 in a single-vehicle accident near the 120-mile marker of the westbound Western Kentucky Parkway.
