Five people have been arrested in Edmonson County, three on felony drug charges, after police responded to a report of a physical altercation between two women.
The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and Kentucky State Police were dispatched to a residence in 18000 block of Louisville Road after a third-party 911 call reported that her sister was being physically assaulted.
Upon deputies arriving, they made contact with a resident of the property, 47-year-old Loretta Goodpasture, of Rocky Hill, who told police that 20-year-old Angel Dimmett, of Smiths Grove, had attacked her. Goodpasture also said that a male subject had fired a gun during the altercation.
Officers located three men at the property, 23-year-old Easton Rector, of Oakland; 22-year-old Jason Temples, of Smiths Grove; and 49-year-old Michael Vance, of Rocky Hill, and a resident of the incident location. Two juveniles were also at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
Vance, police said, admitted to firing a gun into the ground, and that the firearm was inside a nearby building.
Goodpasture and Vance gave law enforcement consent to search the residence and outbuildings, which resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, cash, several firearms, and numerous forms of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, deputies “located a white powdery substance, consistent with that of a controlled substance, in the children’s bedroom,” according to police.
Police arrested Rector and Vance and charged each with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Goodpasture was charged with possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), endangering the welfare of a minor and fourth-degree assault.
All the drug charges are enhanced due to the presence of a firearm.
Dimmett was charged with fourth-degree assault and Temples was arrested by Kentucky State Police on a warrant out of Warren County for failure to appear on a theft charge.
The Department of Social Services was called to assist with placement of the two juveniles.
Dimmett, Goodpasture, Rector, and Vance were lodged in the Hart County Jail. Rector is the only suspect who remains incarcerated.
Temples was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
This is an ongoing investigation with further charges are pending.
