A Hardin County man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Chicago man.
Kentucky State Police arrested Jalen M. Cooley, 22, of Radcliff, for the April shooting of 30-year-old Quincy K. Ukaigwe. He was found shot once in the head in a wooded area near Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff. The body was found on May 1. He was murdered on April 18 or 19, The News-Enterprise reports the arrest warrant says.
Cooley was also charged with receiving stolen property ($10,000 or more) for his part in stealing Ukaigwe’s 2014 Mercedes Benz. He is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash bond.
Cooley, according to court records, has lived in Newaygo, Michigan, in addition to Radcliff.
State police also arrested Danta R. Collins, 33, of Vine Grove, and charged him with complicity to commit murder and first-degree robbery in connection to Ukaigwe’s death and the theft of his vehicle.
Ukaigwe’s family contacted Kentucky State Police on April 21 after not having contact with the victim for a few days, the newspaper reports. The family said Ukaigwe had driven to the Radcliff area to visit a childhood friend.
The investigation is ongoing.
