The Grayson County Health Department is offering a Pfizer vaccine clinic for 16- and 17-year-old residents on Friday afternoon from 4:00 until 8:00 at the ECTC Leitchfield Campus.
Vaccines will be administered by appointment only. Please call 270-259-3141 to schedule.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Additionally, children as young as 12 are now eligible to receive a Pfizer vaccine, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), although final approval from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is expected on Wednesday.
The Pfizer vaccine was approved in December for use for teenagers over 16. On Monday, the FDA amended the authorization to include children ages 12 to 15.
According to the CDC, as of Tuesday, 7,434 Grayson County residents have been fully vaccinated, about 28.4 percent of the county’s population.
Officials said as of Saturday, 3,314 residents 65 and older have been fully vaccinated (69.3 percent of the population 65 and over), and 7,299 residents 18 and older have been fully vaccinated (36 percent).
