The Grayson County High School boys track and field team won the Central Hardin Senior Celebration meet on Saturday in Cecilia.

The Cougars were led by first-place finishers Joseph Beasley (300m hurdles), Evan Hayse (high jump), Jackson Crume (triple jump), Layton Hawkins (javelin), and their 4x800m relay team.

The Lady Cougars, paced by top finisher Jennifer Cruz-Gil who was second in the 100m dash, combined to finish in fourth place overall.

Grayson County was joined by Central Hardin, Meade County, LaRue County, and Hancock County at the senior-only competition.

The Grayson County Middle School team has had eight runners, Presley Jackson, Raylee Shepherd, Amelia Hayes, Gracie Portman, Zach Pierce, and Houston Brooks, qualify for the state competition. That meet will be held on June 5th at Eastern High School in Louisville.

In addition, eighth-grader Houston Brooks qualified for the “Dream Mile” which is a 1-mile race for only middle schoolers to compete in. Brooks will run in that race on Friday.

The track teams will now turn their attention to the Lincoln Trail Conference meet which will be held on Tuesday evening at Bardstown High School. To close out the week and regular season, the teams will host Meade County and Hart County on Friday.
