GOP U.S. Congressman Brett Guthrie, Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee, has been selected by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, of California, to lead the Healthy Future Task Force.

Guthrie will co-lead the House Republican Healthcare Task Force with Congressman Devin Nunes, of California, who serves as Republican Leader of the Ways and Means Committee’s Health Subcommittee.

“It’s an honor to be selected to co-lead the Healthy Future Task Force by House Republican Leader McCarthy,” Guthrie said. “I bring different perspectives on health care policy to this task force from my experience as an employer, a state senator working on Medicaid and now as Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce’s Health Subcommittee. I look forward to working alongside my colleague Representative Nunes in uniting the House Republican Conference and bringing together the best ideas to lower health care costs, improve quality of care and promote innovation.”

Guthrie, 57, of Bowling Green, has represented Kentucky’s 2nd District since January 2009. Prior to being elected to Congress, Guthrie represented the 32nd District in the Kentucky Senate.
