The Grayson County High School track and field team is off to a fast start in the 2021 regular season.
The team has competed in eight meets so far this year and has won first place overall in five of them.
On Monday, GCHS hosted the first-ever Arland Benningfield Classic while welcoming in Central Hardin and John Hardin High Schools. Both the Cougars and Lady Cougars came away with victories in the meet with 18 different first-place finishers in individual events. The team was joined by the namesake of the event alongside his wife.
Last week, the team competed in the Bruin Gold Medal Meet at Central Hardin High School. Individual winners from that competition included Kaylee Jessie in the triple jump, Luke Milliner in the 100m dash, and Peyton Nash in the 3200m.
Other events scheduled this season include meets in Cecilia and Hartford.
