A Hardin County man has been arrested after punching and strangling a woman.

Cody Elliott, 25, of Cecilia, was arrested Saturday night by Kentucky State Police and charged with first-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), resisting arrest, and menacing.

Troopers responded to Elliott’s Cecilia home on the report of a domestic assault and found the victim with “multiple knots” on her face and “red marks around her neck,” according to The News-Enterprise.

The victim told police Elliott was intoxicated and had been drinking all day. The two became embroiled in an argument, resulting in the suspect punching and strangling the victim multiple times, the newspaper reports.

Troopers located Elliott hiding in the home, with the suspect refusing commands to get on the ground and put his hands behind his back. Instead, Elliott took a fighting posture, with a trooper taking him to the ground. After continuing to fight with police, Elliott was eventually brought under control and arrested.

He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
