A Louisville man with ties to Grayson County has been arrested after fighting with and threatening to kill Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith.
Wednesday at approximately noon, Meredith responded to the Western Kentucky Parkway’s exit 112 off ramp after a man was seen laying on the ground next to the roadway, according to the arrest citation.
Upon arriving at the scene, Meredith detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the subject, 52-year-old Clifford Morris, as a Vodka bottle was on the ground next to the suspect. As Meredith placed a handcuff on Morris, he tried pull away and then fight with Meredith, while also threatening to kill the chief and his family, the citation states.
Once gaining control of Morris, a convicted felon, he refused to enter Meredith’s patrol vehicle, as Grayson County Sheriff’s Lt. Sonny Poteet and Leitchfield PD Assistant Chief Brandon Cook arrived and assisted Meredith with placing Morris in the vehicle.
Morris was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for medical clearance. He was then lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he was charged with resisting arrest, alcohol intoxication in a public place and third-degree terroristic threatening.
