Two new deaths were also reported, raising the county’s COVID-19 death toll to 27, and giving Grayson County five coronavirus-related deaths in the last eight days.

Embry said 133 of the cases are active, an increase of 22 active cases since Tuesday. Officials report nine patients are hospitalized.

Officials said 777 (82.9 percent) Grayson County residents have recovered from the virus.

Red still reigns

On Saturday, 115 of Kentucky’s 120 counties were in the “red zone,” indicating a “critical” spread of the virus, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

Grayson (44.9 cases per 100,000 residents over the last seven days) and its bordering counties, except for Breckinridge County (14), remain in the “red,” with Butler (73.2) and Ohio (61.3) counties suffering the highest rate of occurrence.
