An intoxicated Brownsville felon has been arrested on DUI and gun charges after having a wreck early Saturday morning.

Saturday morning at approximately 2:50, a Grayson County EMS crew alerted Grayson County Dispatch that a man wearing all black was walking on the shoulder of the eastbound Western Kentucky Parkway between the 118 and 119 mile markers, with a vehicle off the road near where the man was walking.

Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Zane Greer responded to the scene and made contact with 21-year-old Bradlee Simmons as he walked alongside the parkway.

After an investigation, Greer determined Simmons was under the influence of a substance. During a search of Simmons and his Saturn passenger car, Greer located a handgun and an open container of alcohol. Further investigation showed that Simmons is a convicted felon and that the wrong tags were on the vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with DUI (aggravating circumstances), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle along with numerous non-moving violations.

Marks at the scene indicate Simmons lost control of the Saturn while driving out of a curve. Yaw marks (which are indicative of a driver attempting to control a vehicle) on the pavement revealed the Saturn got sideways as it left the roadway and entered a ditch. The vehicle then struck an embankment before coming to a stop.

Simmons was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
