After a small explosion in a basement, seven methamphetamine labs have been discovered at a residence in Clarkson.
On Monday night, Shawn Phillips, of Clarkson, suffered third-degree burns when, according to police, a meth lab blew up at his residence on Braton Road, just east of Clarkson. Phillips was treated for his injuries at University of Louisville Hospital but has since been released.
On Tuesday and after further investigation, the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force, Clarkson Police Department and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the residence to continue an inquiry into the explosion.
During the investigation, law enforcement located seven meth labs on the property, with several of the labs found in the basement of the home, police said. A couch in the basement of the home caught fire as a result of the explosion, resulting in heavy damage to the room.
Originally, Phillips told law enforcement that he injured himself as he was burning debris at his residence.
He is facing multiple felony charges.
