A Big Clifty man has been arrested twice in less than seven hours for stealing two vehicles.

Wednesday morning at approximately 9:00, the Leitchfield Police Department responded to a report of a stolen 2006 Ford Taurus from the Walmart parking lot.  While en route to the call, police said officers were notified by Grayson County Central Dispatch that the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office had, a short time earlier, responded to a call on Owensboro Road involving the same stolen vehicle.

Deputies located the vehicle and the suspect, 19-year-old Mylan T. Salsman, of Big Clifty. Salsman was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property (less than $10,000) and first-degree criminal mischief and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center (GCDC).

Salsman met “conditions for a pretrial release,” according to the Leitchfield Police Department, resulting in his release from the detention center.

Several hours later, at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, Leitchfield police responded to another report of a stolen vehicle, a 2007 KIA Spectra, also from the Walmart parking lot.

While officers were on scene, dispatch was notified of a suspicious subject on Peonia Road in a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle. Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle, along with Salsman, who was again arrested and charged with receiving stolen property (less than $10,000). He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Police said the cases remain under investigation and additional charges are pending.
