The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has released Rough River Lake’s reopening schedule.

According to USACE, the Axtel, Cave Creek, Laurel Branch, and North Fork campgrounds at Rough River Lake will reopen June 11 at 8:00 a.m.

People with a reservation or planning a camping trip should be aware that all beaches, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and fish cleaning stations remain closed until further notice, officials said.

Reservations are being accepted at all campgrounds, and all campers must have a reservation prior to arrival. Park attendants will not be able to make a reservation or make changes in the length of stay. Those modifications should be made at recreation.gov prior to arrival.

All campers must check-in with the park attendant upon arrival and departure.

USACE officials said, “tents are allowed as long as they fit on the campsite.” Most campground restrooms and shower houses will be open, and “users of these facilities should bring your own hand sanitizer.”

All boat ramps at Rough River Lake are currently open and all restrooms at the boat ramps are also open.

“We are excited to be able to reopen so everyone can get outdoors and enjoy the lake but we need all users’ cooperation to help us keep these facilities open,” USACE officials said in a press release. “We encourage all visitors, including boaters and campers to follow these steps to recreate responsibly: honor the six-foot social distance rule, stay away from parks and recreation areas if you are sick or have symptoms, keep parks clean by practicing ‘pack in and pack out etiquette,’ and always wear a life jacket when near the water.”
