A Rockcastle man has died after an apparent pit bull attack.
Kentucky State Police responded early Friday morning to a residence on Hwy 25 in Conway, about 20 miles south of Berea, and found a man dead, with an aggressive pit bull standing near the body. KSP said troopers had to put the dog down.
The Rockcastle County Coroner said it appears the man was mauled by the dog. Police said the dog was not a stray and belonged to a woman who was visiting the residence. New outlets report the woman was traumatized by the incident and had to be hospitalized.
A veterinarian was called to the scene to retrieve the dead pit bull.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
The investigation continues.
