A Bowling Green woman has been killed in a four-vehicle accident on I-65 in Hart County.
Kentucky State Police responded to the accident at approximately 6:45 Friday night. Police said the initial investigation showed that 25-year-old Davontay H. Baker, of Bowling Green, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet SUV south on I-65 when he lost control of the vehicle. The Chevy exited the right side of the roadway, striking a guardrail before reentering the road where the Chevy was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck, being driven by 20-year-old Dennis Julian, of Holly, Michigan.
Baker’s vehicle was then hit by a 2014 International semi-truck, being driven by 52-year-old Ruben Villanueva-Suarez, of Tampico, Mexico. After striking Baker’s SUV, the semi continued south where it struck a 2010 Jeep SUV, being driven by 50-year-old Donna Cook, of Shelbyville.
KSP said a passenger in Baker’s vehicle, 40-year-old Melissa A. Coffey, of Bowling Green, was ejected during the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.
Baker and three juvenile passengers, along with Julian, Cook, and a juvenile passenger in Cook’s vehicle, were transported to The Medical Center at Caverna where they were treated and released.
A third passenger in Cook’s vehicle, 41-year-old Tonya R. Smith, of Shelbyville, was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital where she is listed in serious condition.
