A mother lost her grip on her 20-month-old son as she attempted to escape floodwaters on Monday night in Edmonson County.
Alexandria Richardson, according to multiple media reports, tried to cross a bridge on Oak Hill Road, about four miles south of Brownsville, when her vehicle became disabled at about 6:20. She attempted to swim to safety with her two children, ages seven and 20-months, when she lost her grip on the youngest child.
The toddler was located by first responders about an hour later. After being transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green the child was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition.
Richardson and her seven-year-old child were transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green with non-life threatening injuries.
