The University of Kentucky’s Cooperative Extension Service has partnered with the University of Tennessee’s Center for Profitable Agriculture to provide producers with a Workshop that will help farmers to manage risk and improve farm business skills.  The Got Farm Records – Now What Workshop will teach farmers how to create and use spreadsheets to evaluate records for direct marketing, food processing and agritourism enterprises.

The Got Farm Records – Now What Workshops will be held around the State at various locations and dates on the following schedule:

November 21, 2019 – Winchester, KY

December 5, 2019 – Somerset, KY

December 12, 2019 – McKee, KY

January 14, 2020 – Owensboro, KY

January 29, 2020 – Pikeville, KY

February 12, 2020 – Shelbyville, KY

What to Expect:

This workshop is designed for existing or would-be operators of a value-added farm business. Using records developed for an example farm with value-added enterprises, presenters will teach how to export the example farm records into a spreadsheet and how to analyze and use them in making business management decisions. Participants will be provided a jump drive with records from the example farm and will learn to use spreadsheets, budgets, and other tools to evaluate those records. Computers will not be provided.

What to Bring:

Participants should bring their own laptop computer loaded with Microsoft Excel® to the workshop. No experience with Excel® is necessary.  Specialists will be available to provide one-on-one assistance with participants during the workshop.

Registration:

Check-in and networking will begin at 8:30 a.m. local time.  The workshop will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time.  Space is limited and pre-registration is required 5 business days prior to the workshop.  The registration fee is $20 per person and covers lunch, materials, and refreshments.
