A former Franklin County middle school teacher has been indicted for sexually abusing two students.
Todd J. Smith, formerly a teacher at Bondurant Middle School, is accused of molesting the students during the 2018-2019 school year. The indictment states that Smith abused the children multiple times between August 2018 and March 2019.
Two additional related indictments accuse Bondurant Middle School’s principal, Whitney Allison, of covering up the illegal activity by not reporting the abuse of a child, and as was reported on Wednesday, the district’s superintendent, Mark Kopp, 48, was indicted for attempted bribery of a public official.
The charges against Allison and Kopp are misdemeanors.
Smith has a warrant out for his arrest.
