A Muhlenberg County deputy jailer has been accused of assaulting another employee at the jail.

Deputy Jailer Lonnie Drake has been charged with misdemeanor assault and official misconduct after an incident involving another employee on May 18.

The investigation was initiated by Muhlenberg County Jailer Terry Nunley.

According to WFIE.com in Evansville, Indiana, the station reached out to Nunley and was told he could not speak about personnel matters, but he did say the employee the station was asking about had been terminated.

The station says it then submitted a “Freedom of Information” request for the video of the alleged incident that led to the charges.

The response, in part, reads:

“Because the Muhlenberg Detention Center’s former employee, Lonnie Drake, has been criminally charged as a result of this incident, premature release of the requested record may potentially harm any prospective law enforcement action or court adjudication, and as such, is exempt from the Kentucky Open Records Act …”

The Greenville Police Department told the station that they were not able to give details on what led to the charges. There are no records of Drake being arrested, but many times when felony charges aren’t filed a citation is issued in lieu of arrest.
