A Barren County Detention Center deputy jailer has been arrested for supplying contraband to inmates.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Avery Ward, of Glasgow, for promoting contraband. According to the sheriff’s office, law enforcement received a tip that Ward was supplying inmates with cigarettes and lighters. The subsequent investigation into Ward’s activity also revealed that a lighter he provided an inmate was used to light a fire inside the jail, according to police.
Ward was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
