At Tuesday’s Grayson County Fiscal Court meeting, a former Grayson County Attorney was selected to serve as a grant Writer for Fiscal Court, the Grayson County Detention Center and School Board, as well as Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
Clay Ratley was unanimously chosen as the grant writer, the practice of researching grant options and completing the application process for a financial grant.
The court received three applications for the position, with one of the applicants taking another job and a second applicant not interested in the position after learning the salary, Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson said.
The position pays $24,000 per year, with each of the four bodies contributing $6,000 apiece toward the yearly salary. No retirement or insurance benefits are offered with the position.
Ratley, who has long experience applying for grants for the Leitchfield PD as well as the County’s Attorney’s Office, served eight years as Grayson County Attorney.
In another personnel move, Henderson asked magistrates to consider hiring an experienced former road department worker, Gale Ford, to mow grass. Ford retired four years ago from the department, according to Henderson.
Magistrates unanimously agreed to hire Ford. He will be paid between $14 and $15 per hour, work three days per week, and will not receive insurance or retirement benefits.
