Grayson County Schools recently completed its Spelling Bee competition, with one student winning the right to represent Grayson County in state competition.
In fourth grade competition, Emelia Thurman took first place, with Maggie Shepherd coming in second. Both Emelia and Maggie attend Wilkey Elementary. Placing third in the fourth grade Spelling Bee was Piper Mangan (Clarkson).
Jacob Cummings (Caneyville), won the fifth grade Spelling Bee, with Emma Newman (Wilkey) coming in second and Jackson Rusher (Caneyville) placing third.
Winning the Grayson County Middle School Spelling Bee was Landon Shiarella, with Kadie Monin coming in second place and Chris Vincent placing third.
Landon will represent the county in the Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee in the spring.
