At Thursday night’ Grayson County School Board meeting, board members approved terminating the contracts of two teachers recently arrested for having inappropriate sexual relationships with students.

GCHS word processing teacher Roger Williams and middle school English/Language Arts teacher John Cariel (who resigned prior to receiving his notice of dismissal from the district) had their contracts with the school system terminated.

In two additional personnel moves, Rusty Ray resigned his position as head coach of the GCHS girls soccer team, and Josh Basham, after being named principal of the alternative high school, resigned his seat as GCHS athletic director. In the district’s announcement regarding Basham’s promotion, it was noted he would be stepping down as AD, but remaining the head coach of the Grayson County High School Lady Cougars basketball team.

The board approved three trips for the GCHS girls golf team for tournaments later this summer in Shelbyville, Lexington and Warsaw.
