At Monday night’s Clarkson City Commission meeting, Commissioners revealed that between 35 and 40 dilapidated or unkempt properties have been identified within the city limits.
City officials have been considering what action to take regarding such properties for several months. And after Commissioners and Mayor Bonnie Henderson toured the city last week locating properties that have over-grown lawns, debris and junk piled in yards, or buildings that are in dire need of repair, the decision was made to categorize each property based on its shortfall, which will dictate the tone and type of letter the property owners will receive from the city.
Those decisions, with input from City Attorney Tom Goff, will be made at a special called City Commission meeting on June 28 at 6:00.
Also at the meeting, Jason Strange, an accountant with Stiles, Carter & Associates, presented a “clean, unmodified” audit finding for the city’s fiscal year 2016-2017, giving the city a clean bill of financial health.
