Yet another Kentucky teacher has been arrested for having a sexual relationship with a student, bringing the total number of teachers arrested for sex-related crimes involving students to nearly 20 since October 2016 (a list of counties where teachers have been arrested in that time-frame is provided at the end of this article).
On Thursday, the Oldham County Police Department arrested 35-year-old Haley A. Reed, of LaGrange, after a warrant for her arrest was issued by Oldham County District Court following an investigation by the Oldham County Police Department.
Police said that Reed was involved in a sexual relationship with a juvenile student at Oldham County High School, where she was employed as a teacher.
Reed admitted to police that she engaged in sexual intercourse, and other sex acts with the student between “approximately April 1, 2018 and June 1, 2018,” according to police. Authorities said all of the incidents occurred after hours and on school property.
Reed was charged with third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy and first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor. All of the charges are felonies.
She was lodged in the Oldham County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
The following list is very likely not comprehensive, but the result of researching previous reporting and an online search — Since October 2016, teachers from the following counties have been arrested on sex-related charges involving students: Grayson (four), LaRue (two), Muhlenberg (two … one arrested was a student teacher), Warren (coach), Logan, Fulton, Jefferson, Boyd, Knox, Oldham, Woodford, and Boone (a middle teacher was recently arrested for incidents dating back to 2013).
