Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of a Madisonville man at the Hopkins County Jail.
According to police, Friday night at approximately 7:10, 25-year-old Jordan D. Kirkwood was found unresponsive in the shower area of the jail. Jail staff performed emergency care on Kirkwood, who was then transported to Baptist Health Madisonville where he was pronounced dead at 7:52.
Kirkwood had been lodged in the jail since March 6 after he was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and other charges.
No cause of death has been released by authorities.
