The Barren County Sheriff’s Office has announced a long-time member of the department has died unexpectedly.

The sheriff’s office said 47 year old Detective Rusty Anderson died Sunday at TJ Samson Community Hospital. Anderson’s obituary said he died after a “sudden illness.”

The sheriff’s office said Anderson began his law enforcement career in December 2000 at the Glasgow Police Department, where he served until 2005. He then continued his career at the Barren County Sheriff’s Office until his death.

Anderson served the public for 17 years and the sheriff’s office said he will be remembered for his genuine character and bright smile.
