The Postal Service will host a Passport Fair at the Leitchfield Post Office (210 S. Main St., Leitchfield) Friday, March 23rd, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Fair serves customers on first come, first served basis. No appointments needed. (There is limited capacity for acceptance.)
The Postal Service suggests travelers check the expiration date on their U.S. passport. Many countries require passport have as much as six months’ validity remaining for entry. Customers have option of applying for passport book (good for all international travel) or passport card (good only for land and sea travel between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and Bermuda).
Passport Fees
Passport Card: Adults (Age 16 and Older) $30. Minors (Under Age 16) $15.
Passport Book: Adults (Age 16 and Older) $110. Minors (Under Age 16) $80.
Passport Card & Book: Adults (Age 16 and Older) $140. Minors (Under Age 16) $95.
The fees listed above must be paid with a personal check or money order. There is a $25 processing/acceptance fee and $15 fee for photos, which can be paid for by cash, personal check, debit and credit cards or money order. Leitchfield Post Office offers passport photo services. Travelers are encouraged to apply for passport several months before scheduled travel. Average time for passport applications/renewals is six weeks. However, additional fee, will expedite application/process within three weeks.
To apply for passport, travelers need to complete Passport Application Form DS-11 (unsigned) and provide one of following: U.S. birth certificate from Department of Vital Statistics (not certificate of birth) or naturalization papers. Applicants must also show either valid driver’s license, previous or current U.S. passport book or card, Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of Citizenship, military I.D. or federal, state or municipal government employee I.D. card. Applicants 15 & under must be present with both parents unless consent given; ages 16 & 17 require only one parent present.
