Hosparus Health of Central Kentucky needs patient support volunteers. The nonprofit hospice organization will offer free training Thursday, Feb. 15, from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. (lunch provided) at its Elizabethtown office, 105 Diecks Drive.

Patient/family support volunteers provide companionship to patients and respite for their caregivers. Working closely with the rest of the Hosparus Health care team, volunteers provide comfort and enhance quality of life during a very difficult time for patients and families. Volunteers must be in good health, have available transportation and complete a screening, training and application process. All volunteers also must receive an annual flu shot, and those working directly with patients must receive an annual TB test. Both are provided by Hosparus.
